THE REAL AFRICA?

NYU royalty treatment sometimes goes overboard. Driving around in a huge white SUV in the unpaved streets of Accra or going into a huge tacky mall (although that was mostly due to the rain and no one really wanted to) is certainly not the Africa I personally came looking for. It´s only the third day, so perhaps I´m judging too quickly…

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Nicest people I have ever met. EVERYONE says hi to you as you walk down the street, almost everyone shakes your hand and a lot of people go in for the hug. Streets are packed with people (despite the fact it won´t stop raining). Traffic reminds me of home. Completely underestimated supermarkets here, they have everything you need (except for sun block. You can find any self-tanner you want though). More western/American influence than I expected Obama is everywhere. There´s even a hotel named after him—The Obama Hotel. Food is delicious (haven´t gotten sick yet). Only 5 hours difference, but the jetlag won´t go away…
